Hundred20 Degree

The task of this design project was to produce a Vitra-worthy construction kit that could be used to build a 50 cm high tower. The construction kit made of American walnut and acrylic glass was handcrafted together with packaging, instructions and logo.

The wood was glued into scantlings, cut into slices and, like the acrylic glass, processed into identical hexagons using a template. The surface was finished with the long belt and edge sanding machine before the holes were drilled and the edges were broken by hand. The wooden hexagons were then treated with oil and wax for a perfect finish. The acrylic glass was sanded matt on five sides and polished on one. This gave the hexagons a beautiful lighting effect.
